Bay Area Youth Climate Summit (BAYCS), is an entirely youth-run, self-governed collective working at the intersection of environmental education & climate justice. BAYCS has worked to engage 7000+ youth through monthly workshops, connecting over 200 high schools, and gaining recognition from the UN, ABC News, KQED, & more. Our newest project, Reclaim Our Futures: Climate Solutions for People + Planet Earth Day Festival is held at Lindley Meadows in Golden Gate Park on Sunday, April 28th.
In a world overtaken by constant climate negativity, the festival places climate joy, peer-to-peer education, and intersectional environmentalism at the center of its mission and has been called “a dynamic event blending eco-inspired art with live music.” We’ll be joined by a dozen high school environmental groups—Lincoln, Alameda, Youth vs. Apocalypse, Urban, St. Ignatius, Summit Shasta, Lick-Wilmerding, Nueva, the California Academy of Science’s Youth Action for the Planet, and more—each eager to co-create climate futures with your community. We see this as a vital opportunity to connect in an in-person format and we encourage you to promote this event with your members/students/peers/
