The Safe Streets Program was started in 2019, with the goal of providing more direct, hands-on education and outreach to local communities around roadway safety for all users, including bicyclists, pedestrians, transit, and vehicle drivers.
More than any other factor, the safety of our roadways impacts whether we ride a bike, walk, or drive a car for short trips around our community. Based on nationwide survey data, more than 50% of people would ride their bikes more if they felt roadways were safer.
