SUMMARY:Global Climate Strike - September 15
DESCRIPTION:On September 15 to 17\, millions of people around the world will take to the streets to demand a rapid\, just\, and equitable end to fossil fuels. \nThis wave of global mobilisations will include the March to #EndFossilFuels fast\, fair\, forever in New York City on September 17\, as world leaders attend the United Nations Secretary General’s Climate Ambition Summit. \nThis historic mobilisation renews and reinforces the globally coordinated efforts focused on ending the era of fossil fuels. The scale of this mobilisation and the urgency of the moment underscore the devastating impacts of recent record breaking heat\, deadly floods\, and increased extreme weather events. \nThe climate crisis is escalating and in response so is the global movement for climate justice. Across the globe\, we are coming together to fight back against the fossil fuel industry and its enablers. \nTogether\, we are unstoppable as we build and imagine a fossil fuel-free world. \n  \nFor information on how to strike\, go here: \nhttps://fridaysforfuture.org/take-action/how-to-strike/

SUMMARY:Author Talk: Burnt: A Memoir of Fighting Fire
DESCRIPTION:Presenting Clare Frank\, author of Burnt: A Memoir of Fighting Fire\, in partnership with Napa Bookmine. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen Clare Frank was 17 years old\, she became a firefighter in Northern California. Clare was five foot two and too young to officially join the service—she left her birthdate blank on her paperwork\, hoping no one would notice. \nBurnt is Clare’s inspiring\, richly detailed\, and open-hearted account of an extraordinary life in fire. It chronicles the transformation of a young adult determined to prove her mettle into a scarred and sensitive veteran\, grappling with the weight of her duties as Chief of Fire Prevention—one of the highest-ranking women in Cal Fire history—while record-setting fires engulf her home state. \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/burnt-by-clare-frank-at-napa-county-library-tickets-669618556127?aff=oddtdtcreator

Facing the urgency of the environmental crisis\, the musical and visual experience challenges us to feel\, to learn and to act. \nProlific composer\, guitarist Jim Scott brings warmth and humor in his jazz and world music influenced songs as well as outspoken messages of peace\, justice\, and the Earth. Jim’s played at more than 700 UU churches over four decades of travels. Formerly a member of the Paul Winter Consort\, Jim was composer of their celebrated Missa Gaia/Earth Mass and sang their anthem song Common Ground. He has toured the world\, recorded nine CDs of original music and published a growing line of choral works. One of the originators of the Unitarian Universalist Church “Green Sanctuary” program\, Jim also compiled the Earth and Spirit Songbook\, an anthology of 110 songs of Earth by many contemporary composers.
